The lesson I learned is that some people won’t think twice about using you, especially when there’s a country club involved.”

In the last review (The Last Straw) I stated that book was essentially a Part 1 to this book. Normally, I think sequels are superior compared to the original. Not in this case if I will be honest.
Of course, the book is funny (especially the parts at the Bombshell salon and about reading) and a good read but I DO have some complaints. Out of all the Wimpy Kids published in the 2000s, Greg is the worst in this one. He talks about God as if the only reason he’s Christian is because he wants to get everything his way, and he treats Rowley like a slave during the lawn service thing.
Secondly, his whole crushes thing during these books are insane. In the Last Straw, Holly doesn’t know who Greg is, so he just decides to have a crush on his older sister. Greg is essentially going a bit mad for her.
I will say that I did feel bad for Greg with the birthday thing, and it just does prove how Susan and Frank are bad parents. They assume that since Greg’s brother has done something wrong that he will do it too, so he doesn’t get a cellphone. Or does he…?
I will say I like the book, it’s the first book that inspired the “road trips” in the Wimpy Kid franchise. What I DON’T like is that plot being over-used. When you think that this book is essentially the reason for the most overused plot in the series, it makes you like it a tiny bit less. But forget that, it’s a good book.
