Dad was frustrated I wasn't paying attention, and he asked me what I'm gonna do if I ever get stuck by the side of the road with a flat tire. I told him I'm planning on buying a WHISTLE, and I'll just blow it if I ever need help.

At one point in the book, the Heffleys try to sell their house, but the people who consider it have a lot to say about Susan's designing taste. The thing is, none of those comments are NICE. And mine for Diary of a Wimpy Kid 14: Wrecking Ball aren't gonna be as nice either. With a few funny scenes, there a lot of problems.
Some scenes are very unrealistic like Manny building a house without a permit and Greg stuck on the roof with nobody noticing. Starting from here the series gets slightly much more unrealistic.
Secondly, THE AMOUNT OF capitalized words is SUPER GOSHDARN ANNOYING. And YES I AM doing this on PURPOSE in an attempt to BE SUPER FUNNY.
With all these problems aside, this shows the bad side of moving away in an unrealistic and funny way. Could be worse, could be better.
I’d never been on a PLANE before, and I wasn’t crazy about the idea of locking myself in a metal tube.

Most people like complaining that after The Long Haul, the book series went downhill, well, thiis book REALLY says otherwise. I love the plot and the funny parts. But there are more things I have to say.
The last minute couple is another sign of unrealistic bad luck in an attempt to make the book a bit funnier. There’s no way the would let a couple in after they closed the doors. But this behind, a lot of scenes go well in the book, like the rest of Greg’s events in the plane and of course, the spider battle with him and the waiter.
While at the beginning of the book Greg is selfish like always, the rest of the book he improves on his character and becomes funny, like always!
While the book has some repetitive parts, this is a GREAT book and I guarantee you, you NEED to read it.

The Long Haul book and movies are infamous for their hate. But, what about the book describing how the movie was made? The first three Wimpy Kid movies each got books dedicated to them about the production and history of them. And of course, the fourth book got this treatment too, just a month acter the film released. Here's what I think about it.
The first 3 diaries have a start about how the previous movie went and why they started production on a movie. But this one starts with a story about Kinney and his family on a road trip and how this impacted The Long Haul forty years later, which I feel is a pretty mediocre start. But, then again, if it had the same start as the first one, I’d just call it a cash grab.
While the book is quite informative, it’s not that funny. The first three editions had very informative and funny ways of telling what happened in the film, specifically with the drawings. But Kinney tries to make it like that by dissing on the characters’.. hairs? Anyways, it’s not funny.
I’d just watch behind the scenes clips instead of getting this book. Thank gosh for audiobooks.
You want me to read. I'm reading text! What's the difference?

The Long Haul: Famous for it's bad reception by the community. But is it really THAT bad? Here is what I think, which is a LOT. I took down about 10 notes while watching this.
So, the film is about them going on a road trip for Meemaw’s 90th birthday and Susan enforces a rule of no technology, which I think is pretty annoying. Susan’s rule of no technology is annoying and especially for a person like Greg who is self-centered and only cares about his own happiness, and the outcome is a bad main character. Greg in the first three movies were better characters compared to Greg in the first seven books. But when you compare this counterparts, the book Greg is better. All this Greg cares about is video games and Mac Digby, a famous YouTuber in the Wimpy World. The thing about the books is that we don’t know EXACTLY where they are, and the social media/tech aspect is doing a great job
at not letting us know. The books capture a great essence of just a kid in school. This movie is just about a kid obsessed with games and technology and YouTube, and he is a bad person.
Speaking of bad, the CGI in this movie is completely horrendous. It’s only with one shot where the pig tries flying out the window, but it’s so obvious that it’s just sad.
The movie relies on potty humor instead of carefully crafted punchlines that effort were put in, like Diaper Hands and the pig farting. However, there is only one time that is funny but I don’t recommend sticking around just for it.
I also don’t recommend sticking around for Greg or Manny. Their characters are portrayed horribly and not at all accurately to the first three movies or first twelve books. It’s just so annoying. Rodrick, Susan and Frank are the only good actors in this movie, and they portray their characters very well. I don’t know why Charlie Wright gets hated on for his version of Rodrick. He reminds me of Devon’s version.
This could be better and this could be worse. Sure beats the hell out of Double Down, though.
Step, step, step, no, no, no, plop, plop, plop, in I go!

What the heck was WRONG with me? Why the hell did I use to defend this book?! There is so much wrong with it and nothing remotely decent enough for me to include it in the review. This is one of the worst Wimpy Kid books I HAVE EVER EVER READ.
The plot is scattered all over the place and there’s not just ONE single focus, there are literally four of them! You can’t even explain what happens in the book properly because of the gosh-darn continuity. It’s so annoying!
What else is annoying is Greg throughout the book. Greg’s thoughts are super duper unrealistic. As he gets older he gets stupider and this book is an example of that, and in this book his character is supposed to be fifteen years old and he still thinks that the world revolves around him.. how stupid is this kid?
Not to mention his thoughts about heaven. He thinks that he will be in heaven but it feels like he is Christian because he just wants to get everything his way, like he never does. IT IS SO STUPID!!
I guess that Greg throughout this book was supposed to be funny and it fails so badly it’s not even funny. The punchlines are distributed unrealistically and in no way funny AT ALL.
The book has references to Dr. Salazar who appears in book 5 and the cheese touch from book 1-2. These parts weren’t needed in the book at all and it just feels like an obvious attempts for longer fans of the series to have an excuse to like the book, but it’s not good at all.
How is Greg’s luck in this SO BAD!? How is it he joins the band but somehow he’s not on the side of his crush? Why is Greg tested so horribly? You’d think at least ONCE something happens his way, but no! This is so annoying!
I’m crapping on this book.. but just imagine how bad the Disney+ movie will be…
See, that's the problem with putting too much stock in the old days. You remember all the GOOD stuff, but you forget about the time you got spanked by your best friend's mom.

This review of my first ever Wimpy Kid book was written March 2023. My opinions and format have changed drastically.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid was published on February 4, 2008 by Amulet Books Australia, for the first time, selling over 275 million copies. It had 224 pages and was sold for 8 dollars.
On November 3, 2015, Amulet Books Australia published Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Old School which was the 10th book in the series. It had 244 pages and was sold for 8 dollars. Four to five years later, I would end up discovering the Wimpy World thanks to that book.
Old School is a book showing the struggles of students and kids aged 15 not using devices. Susan Heffley has managed to get 50 signatures for a petition to “log off to reconnect.” Jeff Kinney’s purpose of making Old School was rebooting the Wimpy Kid books in a new beginning, with many differences from past books. Like always, in almost every book, Jeff Kinney also tried making this as relatable as possible.
Book 10 looked very interesting to me as a kindergartener. I did not care about how long the book was, but when I read it, it didn’t disappoint.
I enjoyed how Jeff Kinney tried changing up a little bit, as Book 9 The Long Haul was about a family trip. This one is about camping, no technology, stories and myths you find it hard to believe, and that’s not something you find in a Wimpy Kid book.
This book is very relatable for many people aged 9-15, and you can relate to the cover which features Greg confused on how to use a cassette player from the circa 90s-2000s.
BUT-BUT-BUT- yes, there is a butt. There were a few minor setbacks in this book.
After watching Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3: Dog Days, then reading this book, it makes me disappointed seeing Frank funny or social with his kids was only in the movies.
After watching Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules and reading the original book, Rodrick appears almost zero times in this book. And that’s bad news, due to the Wimpy Kid community all gathering together and deciding that Rodrick DOES rule.
This book is mainly scattered all over the place, fun but boring to read. At the same time if it wasn't for this book I wouldn’t be a fan of the Wimpy Kid universe. This book deserves a 4 star.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Old School is a great book for readers who like an adventure with a fresh hint of relatable humor. If you think you should read it, it’s your choice.
4 years later I would end up re-discovering the Wimpy Kid, and becoming a major fanatic.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from my years of being a kid, it’s that you have ZERO control over your own life.

a.k.a. The Way Way Back
I will be honest and completely honest. This book was a slightly bit boring so I didn’t have too much to say about it. But here is what I will say.
The whole plot with different languages was kind of funny, and it is sad to see it being recycled in No Brainer, which I will have reviewed soon and I think is the worst book in the series. Speaking of worst, I think Susan is the worst in this book. She forces the family to do everything she wants and only cares about the happiness of Manny. But I also think she is a bit of a good character in this one..
Ugh I cannot believe I said that.
In her desperate attempts to make this educational and fun, she is in deep just a sweet mom who cares about the happiness and learning of Greg and Rodrick.. at least in THIS book. She sucks in the rest, like always.. Anyways, her trying to make it educational is good, but she’s doing it in the wrong way.
My issues is that some of the scenes are unrealistic, specifically Manny and the pig. It’s weird to see a pig doing such humane things. So that is not the most relatable part. Not to mention running into The Beardos a GAZILLION times. This happens every time.. it’s like fate. In Rodrick Rules (the movie) Greg and Holly SOMEHOW go to the same church. In Dog Days (the movie) Greg and Patty SOMEHOW END UP AT THE SAME TENNIS COURT. HOW. WHY?! WHEN!
Anyways, this is a kinda-not-really relatable way of showing that not everything will go right spending time with family, especially on a road trip.
I know Mom's always saying friends come and go and family is forever, and maybe that's true. But your family isn't gonna be there when Meckley Mingo chases with his belt on your way home you from school.

a.k.a. Eightball
This review was written November 2022. I was planning to release it onto YouTube in 2023, but my computer got bricked. Anyways, my opinions have changed, and so has my format.
Happy 10th anniversary to the book “Diary of a Wimpy Kid 8: Hard Luck”.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck was published by Amulet Books Australia on November 6, 2013. It had everything a classic Wimpy Kid book should have - Greg hating literally everything!
Hard Luck is a continuation of The Third Wheel, now with Rowley having a girlfriend and Greg being left out. Greg tries to do ANYTHING for better luck, and suddenly finds a Magic Eight Ball. In this book, The Heffley family lose a ring that had been in the family for generations and spend most of the book trying to find it.
What I like about this book is how overused it is. The plots in The Wimpy Kid series always feature Greg’s luck being nonexistent, while someone close to him [friend or family] has it all. This formula is used in most books and Jeff Kinney still manages to change it up. That’s what makes me love the Wimpy World. Same but different!
Did I say it was perfect, though? The plot with Meemaw’s ring is pointless as it doesn’t contribute to the Hard Luck part of the story. It just takes up half of the book and is a waste of the story. When someone says Hard Luck, I don’t think of finding a ring that’s been in your family for generations, I think of HARD LUCK.
Despite Abigail having to be part of this book, she’s a horrible character. She’s like Greg, just worse. She gets Rowley to carry her stuff, and doesn’t even let him have any opinions. Not only that, but at the end of the book she does something HORRIBLE. She’s one of those 11 year old females who are completely against boys and their immature instincts, actions and likes. Which is ridiculous. Let someone be themselves. Jeff Kinney did a wonderful job at making me hate someone.
This book is a good use of your money but not one of the best. This is a ‘read-when-bored’ or ‘buy-because-the-other-book-was-out of stock” publication.
This book deserves a 3 cheese rating.
Happy 10th anniversary to the book “Diary of a Wimpy Kid 8: Hard Luck”.
Okay, so Class Clown is one of the famous Diary of a Wimpy Kid short films (yes, it’s not the only one, shocking..) that was only available on Blu-Ray/DVD for the Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3: Dog Days movie… until someone put it on YouTube. Anyways, I don’t have much problems with it because it’s really good.
This three minute short animation was a special feature on the home videos for the third film.. and this is literally funnier than it. The slang, the line delivery and everything is TOP NOTCH. The animation was on the same level as the third film, nothing really special.
My only issues are the obnoxious childish sound effects, they’re like something you would find in a cartoon. But the music is just a tiny bit too loud and I couldn’t hear the dialogue at some times.
My only issue is how much potentional the short film could have if it was longer, and it could be so much funnier.
Anyways, pretty good short film, and better then Dog Days.
I probably should've thought about talking to Uncle Gary a lot earlier. He's been married something like four times already, so he's an EXPERT on relationships.

a.k.a Odd Man Out
Okay, so, as you might have guessed from me taking my time to design and set up a logo, a schedule and a whole blog dedicated to reviewing the entire Diary of a Wimpy Kid book and movie series, I am a big fan of the entire Diary of a Wimpy Kid book and movie series.. but I’m not so sure about The Third Wheel.
So my first issue with the book is that it is not very.. relatable. The target audience for Diary of a Wimpy Kid is.. let’s be honest. This book doesn’t appeal to 14 year olds. It appeals to 8-12 year olds. And I don’t think third graders will have an expierence with a middle school prom.. or middle school.. or a prom..
Secondly, there is no character development at all. There is nobody in this book who degrades or improves their character, they just stay the same horrible jerks or good characters they are. Speaking of characters, Greg is the worst one.
Valentine’s Day is about spending time with someone you LOVE. And Greg doesn’t LOVE any of the girls at his school. He just has a crush on them because they’re cute, but doesn’t actually know anything else about them. So he classifies himself as a good choice for most of the girls, but when one girl rejects him, he goes to another one. And this goes on for 5 percent of the book. Not to mention how he doesn’t think Rowley has a CHANCE of getting a Valentine, which is pretty stupid.. you will NOT believe the way Greg makes Abigail (who he eventually goes to the dance with) not become interested in him.
Nevertheless it is a funny unrelatable book. This definetly is not on my top 5.. but you do you, I guess.
Okay, I am a huge fan of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series who has been reading actively for 5 years and even I can say that this is a horribly mediocre movie. In fact it is the worst of the original 3, even the opening sequence before the opening credits. The bathroom scene feels out of hand, and no kid at all has expierenced that. It’s so obvious.
This film tries so hard to make the scenes with Greg funny, but that fails, because this film relies on slapstick and potty humor so bad, which is why this film is way too childish for my liking. The first two films were about the troubles of school and growing up, with a lot of relatable scenes. Now this is about.. faking a job to get in a country club? What? Not to mention when Greg jumps off the high dive and loses his gosh darn underwear.. how does that even happen? This film is trying too hard to be funny to younger kids and not appeal to kids the age of Greg.
The only funny characters are Rodrick, Rowley, Susan, and Frank, like always. How come side characters are written better then the literal protagonist? How? HOW?! The score in this film is mediocre and has too much of a ‘summer feel’ to it. It doesn’t feel natural with the instruments.
Now, now, now, I’m a fan of this series, I can’t just hate on this movie. There’s a good side to everything..
The only scene with Greg in it REMOTELY funny is the tennis scene. It’s always funny to see someone play tennis who actually doesn’t know how. Not to mention that the bond between Greg and Frank is wholesome. In the book series, they practically hate each other, but in this movie, there are funny scenes with them that I can enjoy. I think this is one of the only things I like about the film.
The animation has improved drastically, it is smoother, but the thing about the animation is that while there is more effort into it, there are unfortunately less animated scenes. So, to conclude this highly critical review, this film is so childish and mediocre, it’s just annoying, but I also just can’t get myself to completely hate it. So I give it a
WHO LEFT THIS SANDWICH ON MY DESK? HOW CAN YOU EXPECT ME TO STAY MOTIVATED WITH THIS KIND OF DISTRACTION, PEOPLE?!

a.k.a How Greg Heffley Went Hollywood
In 2022 I begged my parents for this book as a Christmas gift. They were thinking about getting me Diper Overlode instead, but luckily they got me this book. AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH!
This book is an informative and of course hilarious way of diving deep in the world of movie-making, and in this case it was the first 3 Wimpy Kid movies.
With new original drawings and things that the essential Wimpy Kid fan needs to know about the production about the film, this is the best book in the series, sure way better then Cabin Fever.
My only problem is that the book has too much info on the first movie. In 2011 the book was again re-published with new pages about the second film, which is the favourite addition to the film franchise of MANY of the Wimpy Kid fans. But the thing is, it feels like a scam because there were only 19 pages about the second movie. There is a lot more we do have to know about the second film and the book doesn’t cover much of it.
I thought about thinking of getting the 2011 edition for the Rodrick Rules section until I figured out it was only 19 pages longer. The 2012 edition is 254 pages, and the 2010 edition is 199.
Anyways, this is essential, okay? The best book I’ve ever read. EVER.
CABIN FEVER was released 2011, the same year the best Wimpy Kid movie was released. Not because of that am I saying that this is the best book, but it is because of the story.
How simple it is – Greg starts a newspaper, a Holiday Bazaar and is now stuck with his family trying to promote it. So a pretty complicated outline, but it’s worth it for the amazing hilarious book and punchlines. This book explains that not everything will go right during the holidays in a funny and relatable way. You might not like Wimpy Kid, but you need to read this book.
Let me start by saying that having a brother is really overrated. Rowley always says he wishes he had a brother, and, boy, do l wish l could give him one of mine. l've looked into it and, unfortunately, it's not legal.
Release date: September 7, 2011
Rodrick Rules is definetly not my favourite book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid if I will be honest. But I will say it is MY FAVOURITE MOVIE!!
The bond between Greg and Rodrick is amazingly funny and heartwearming, unlike the books, where they’re always fighting nonsensically. Now, they’re friends and it for sure makes the movie better. Imagine if nothing was happening except Rodrick pranking Greg. That would be such a nonsense 1 hour and 25 minutes. The film was supposed to be 20 minutes longer but was cut out for reasons David Bower explained. Like in the commentary for Dog Days he says the film would’ve been good without the deleted scenes.
Secondly, the animation was done by a different company, who made the character sprites in this one more accurate and the animation more smoother! The Wimpy Kid series is a kid writing and drawing in his diary, and to see those drawings come to life with accurate depictions is amazing.
Let me be honest with you, I don’t really like Susan and Frank as parents. But in this movie they are the FUNNIEST PEOPLE EVER!! I love Frank and Susan acting like they’re going crazy over the bathroom door.
I also love the soundtrack, which was not composed by Theodore Shapiro. This has a much more childish feel to it in terms of music, but it is also way catchier, and the editors have good taste in music.
-Jeff Kinney's review is on the top of every Big Nate book
-Lincoln Pierce once put Igdoof in a Big Nate comic
-Jeff tought Lincoln how to write a novel
-Jeff made poptropica.com and one of the islands were dedicated to Big Nate
-They are both friends
Let's be honest with you all - a review every two days is a fast schedule. So when I do finish with the entire series (including Rowley's spinoff) I bet that it'll just take four months for Hot Mess and the Disney+ film to release. So boo.
From those 4 points - Big Nate and Diary of a Wimpy Kid are pretty much linked. So it wouldn't be a bad idea to review the Big Nate books (NOT the comic strip collections) on this blog, right?
one thing for sure - I AM NEVER READING DORK DIARIES AGAIN.
The only problem with the roller rink is that you have to share space with all the losers in this town.
Just JUDGING by the quote, you can assume that this is another Greg short video for the Summer Fun Pack Blu-ray. No, it's a PATTY video. I hate Patty. So much. She’s worse then Rodrick!
So, just Patty yippity-yapping on and on about how she’s the best at roller-skating and the talent quest and Greg sucks, blah blah blah.
Honestly, I don’t get how Patty is GENUINELY the favourite character of some people. She’s even worse then Greg and everyone calls HIM a psycho.
This was shot the same time of the roller rink opening of Rodrick Rules. You can tell by Patty’s outfit.
Nevertheless. I hate this video because Patty’s in it and I hate Patty.
In the sequel to Chirag's Trail of Tears, instead of crying more, no. He stands up to the bullies and starts an operation to get them in trouble with the authorities.
I’m not biased. Chirag is not my favourite character, but he is in my favourite “Summer Vacation” film that was made for the “DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: My Summer Vacation Fun-Pack” Blu-Ray. There are no recycled jokes or weird actions, but instead a NEW story, NEW and actually funny jokes! This is the best one yet!
The Internet Archive has an upload of a rip of the Blu-Ray. Also featuring other short videos and bloopers of Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Movie II, I tell you to download it for Beat it Bully.
